The Hamwic Story

Also known as Hamtun. An 8th Century Settlement, Port & Production Centre that was located on the site that the new Southampton Football Club stadium is built upon. Excavations at the site of the stadium found graves furnished with weapons, gold and fine jewellery. An unknown fact is that they left a lot of these archaeological finds underneath the pitch. “It is an intriguing thought to imagine Southampton’s Premiership League footballers are dancing over all this surviving Anglo-Saxon archaeology”.

By the middle of the 8th Century it had given its name to the “Shire” (Hamtunshire), now known as Hampshire. Our Logo is taken from the Tudor Rose. This also carries a long standing recognisable local identity that is placed upon the City of Southampton crest and Southampton Football Club’s badge, as well as many local council crests.

Ray who is from the New Forest and has been in Totton since 1993 with his wife Lesley, who previously worked at Hazel Wood Infant School for 16 years. Ray has an incredible wealth of experience due to managing estate agents’ offices in the West Country, Romsey and London Road, Southampton. He also spent many years within the property development sector operating throughout Southampton & surrounding areas. This accomplishment allows Ray to aid in every aspect of the home move process and helps guide sellers/buyers in any situation.

Out of work – Ray enjoys early morning Bass fishing in Southampton Water, walks with his wife Lesley and little dog Dillon as well as just a “few” drinks in his local pub!!

Richard Baddams

Richard started his career as an Independent Mortgage Adviser approx. 15 years ago. Richard then joined Morris Dibben in Totton and later established Hamwic. Richard is now well established in the local area, living locally with his wife and 2 children. Richard deals with all the systems, marketing, and production within Hamwic and has an excellent knowledge with all aspects of buying and selling a home. His passion and attention to detail when marketing and selling homes in second to none. Richard is immensely proud of Hamwic’s brand, identity, the Hamwic Team and their achievements since opening in 2015.

Out of work – Richard enjoys spending family time with his wife Lucy and 2 little boys Toby & Owen. Watching and playing football and having a nice clean car!!

Tom is a true Tottonian, having lived all his life in the area and schooled locally. His journey in Estate Agency started with a corporate agency in Romsey before joining Hamwic in 2022. He is a valued member of our team, offering a professional and proactive service to our clients and always going that extra mile!

His obvious local knowledge is a huge asset but his love of the industry is always apparent and the office receives many compliments about his polite enthusiasm, well beyond his years!!

Out of work – Tom enjoys watching and playing football, hiking up mountains with his friends and walks in the forest with his little doggy Stanley!

Tina has lived in Totton her whole life. Tina is your extremely patient, empathetic, and methodical after sales support. With a very responsible position, she managed to regularly update her clients throughout the sales process together with keeping the office and our huge amount of admin on the right track!

Tina is passionate about offering exceptional customer service, enjoys assisting both sellers and buyers achieve their goals in the “what can be a challenging process” Tina is a huge asset to our Team!!

Out of work – Tina is a trustee for a local charity, loves her little rescue cat …… and to relax enjoys gardening and walks with her husband Phil.
